BAN on Gutka in India : STA India

STA India We do not think that it is a sound approach to ban one form of tobacco consumption without any scientific assessment. It is vital that any regulation on smokeless tobacco takes into account the relative harmfulness of smoking tobacco which is combustible and where pharmacological impact is ignited with inhaling by lungs. Given that health authorities have raised concerns on both smoking and non-smoking forms of tobacco consumption, a blanket ban on Gutka will tantamount to stimulating shifts to smoking. It will end up suggesting that smoking form of tobacco is less harmful which cannot be the intention of any regulation with vast scientific evidence against smoking.
